I Dreamed a Dream

Susan Boyle thought she could.  You remember Susan, the woman from a village in the UK who put on her finest dress and heels and made her way to the auditions for Britain’s Got Talent 2009.  Before stepping on stage she stated, “I’ve always wanted to perform before a large audience.”  Susan then walked to center stage and had this conversation with host and judge Simon Cowell:

Simon:  Susan how old are you?

Susan: 47

Simon: What’s the dream?

Susan: I’m trying to be a professional singer.

Simon: And why hasn’t it worked out so far Susan?

Susan: Well I haven’t been given the chance before, but here is hoping that will change.

Simon: What are you going to sing tonight?

Susan: I Dreamed a Dream’ from Les Miserables.

And sing Susan did.  The crowd rose to their feet, as did the judges.  “I’m so thrilled because I know that everybody was against you.  I honestly think that we were all being very cynical and that’s the biggest wake-up call ever, and I want to say it was a complete privilege to listen to that,” said one of the judges.

97, 936,664 people have since watched Susan’s audition on You Tube, and she has gone on to become a professional singer.

Are we all destined to live our dream as Susan has?  We will never know unless we put on our fancy dress, slip into our finest heels, and step forward in the direction of our dreams.

The We Move Forward 2013 conference is about doing just that.  Women of all ages will hear inspiring stories from featured speakers and role models who demonstrate that we are all ordinary women capable of extraordinary things.  Participants will take part in group exercises that will assist them to clarify their passion and purpose, and chart their way forward in warm and supportive community.

Regardless of what stage of life we’re in or how ‘big’ our dream is – We Move Forward 2013 is a step in the right direction for women wanting to live a life of passion and purpose.
